A&P:
Rumour has it that the A&P in Kingston is the most expensive grocery store in Canada. They can charge whatever the hell they want because students are lazy. Keep that in mind. One thing to note about the A&P is that they are open 24/7 and around midnight they have some killer sales!
Food Basics:
The Food Basics is about a five dollar cab ride from campus and you’ll certainly save more than that if you shope here. It’s located at the corner of King and Barrack Streets. Watch out, the produce can be nasty.
No Frills:
A little further afield, but again worth the cab fare is the No Frills. It’s located at the corner of Bagot and Charles Streets and they often have sweet deals on Kraft Dinner and Mr. Noodles.
Loblaws:
Also, there is a great Loblaws at the Kingston Center (Princess Street at Sir John A. Boulevard). It’s bus or cab distance, but the selection is great and they have a GoodLife Fitness center for women there if you are sick of the PEC.
Farmer’s Market:
Another wonderful place to get groceries is the Farmer’s Market. Here you can get your hands on some cheap, healthy and beautiful produce. It’s located behind City Hall and is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from about 8am-5pm. On Sundays, there is an antiques market in the same spot.
Tara’s Natural Foods:
Tara’s Natural Foods on Princess Street isn’t cheap, but they have a great selection of health foods and great vegan options. They carry everything from buffalo meat to soy chips.
Food Bank:
Lastly, there is the Queen’s Food Bank if need be. It’s open Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays from 5:45-6:45pm. They are located at 272 Earl Street, the service is confidential, and all you have to do is show your student card. Please don’t scam this place, it’s there for those who need it, or for those who spent all of their food money on beer or World of Warcraft.

John’s Deli should definitely be added to this list. The prices are usually cheaper or on par with metro and you cant beat the meat you can get from the deli. It is great and located pretty close to campus across from the mansion.
The No Frills on Bagot/Charles is unfortunately no more. Instead, there’s on on Division, but it’s a way out.
