kingston music scene

Sure, Kingston is pretty small, but it has some pretty good bands- great bands actually. Think Sarah Harmer, The Tragically Hip, Bryan Adams.Plus some awesome artists come through town frequently. ing Football

Elixir and Ale House often host some good acts (Stars, Bedouin Soundclash, Weakerthans). Bars such as the Brass have regular performers on certain nights of the week and Brandee's often has some awesome blues acts.

The Grad Club firmly has it's finger on the indie music pulse and is an all around fantastic venue. Here you can enjoy a pint while watching bands in an incredibly intimate setting. The acoustics aren’t much, but they’re made up for in atmosphere.

Kingston is also home to the Kingston Symphony Orchestra, which, despite the town’s small size, is really very good. Until recently the orchestra performed at the Grand Theatre, however it is currently under renovation. Tickets are fairly reasonable, at around $14 dollars for students.

Additionally, the music scene on campus is very healthy, with a lot of campus bands going on to much bigger and better things after graduation. Kingston is a notorious hotbed for great music, and it shows. There is rarely a night that goes by without a killer show to catch.
