shopping

There are some charming shops for browsing on Princess Street, but really little else. You will be able to find all the basics here, but if you are used to the options that the big city holds, it's worth saving your sprees until your next Toronto or Montreal trip.

As far as clothes go there are a few cute boutiques such as Three, Agent 99, & Blueprint on Princess. They are all overpriced but sometimes have a few good finds. There is an American Apparel and a Lululemon downtown as well, so that should keep most Queen's girls clothed for a least a month or two. For shoes, check out Heel Boy on Princess.

Queen's has spawned a few cool designer's. Muff Fabulous by Brock Hart is an innovative jewelry line, and Ghetto Tees serves up some campus humour on cotton t-shirts.

Pan Chancho (a bakery) has some great take out items and jams and jellies and such, as does Cookes on Brock Street.

The Cataraquai center is a long bus ride out into the burbs of Kingston and if you are desperate enough to go shopping at RW&CO or American Eagle, then it's worth splitting a cab with some friends to get there. The bus can take almost an hour.

There is a Walmart and a Costco in town, however both of these are out in the burbs, so you'll need to borrow a car or spring for a cab. Unfortunately other than S&R on Princess Street or the Dollarama there isn't a really big department store close to campus. That said, move in well stocked, and tell your parents that care parcels are manditory.
