thai, cambodian, & vietnamese food Kingston has a great selection of ethnic restaurants. One shining example is the glut of Thai/Cambodian/Vietnamese places in the downtown core.
Mango is the newest Thai and Pan-Asian restaurant on the block. Located at 161 Princess they offer good food, service, and selection at higher than average prices. There's nothing special about Mango, but if you are looking to enjoy your Thai food in a little classier surrounds, then this fits the bill. Takeout and delivery are available 613-549-3815. Phnom Penh, located at 333 King St. E.is the best of the bunch. Try the golden chicken, the stir fry chicken (#5) or the tom yong soup. Heaping portions, fair prices, and otherworldly taste sensations are just par for the course. (for delivery 545-2607) If King Street is a little far for you, Cambodiana (located just opposite Hotel Dieu Hospital on Brock) fits the bill. A smaller menu, and just a few tables, but excellent food. Again I couldn't recommend dish #5 more highly. (for delivery 531-0888) Wok In, just off Princess on Montreal Street is a little asian diner dive that serves up killer thai food. The prices are so low you feel like you are robbing the place. Note: the hours are strange and seating is minimal. Mekong: Mekong is a great place to get some very fairly priced (in fact, I would venture the word cheap) Vietnamese food that is of good quality. It’s conveniently located in the hub, and is a good place to go with friends. Be nice to the staff there, they seem sad. All in all, Kingston has damn great and darn cheap thai food. I'm not quite sure why, but if a Panang Curry is what you are craving, you've come to the right place. |
